Live Score to Silent Film South in Birmingham, 16th March 2019

Axxent Opaue were invited by David Wright of AD Music to play a 45 minute set at E-Scape. We also contributed a 9 minute track Session 29.3.19 released exclusively on the E-Scape 2019 compilation album of various artists that is available from AD Music shop .

E-Scape, The Cut, New Cut, Halesworth, Suffolk, 1st June 2019

For our second year at the Seventh Wave Festival of Electronic Music, we performed an ambitious suite of music to the 1919 silent film South (about Sir Earnest Shackleton's ill- fated voyage to Antarctica) which was being projected on a screen. Our live soundtrack was full of variety as it portrayed the ups and downs of this epic story of survival. The entire suite ran to around 63 minutes, with 19 separate pieces, performed continuously in order to synchronise with the film that was projected on a screen for the audience, and on a TV for our benefit. The audience’s reception to our audio visual presentation was rapturous and the whole project and performance was a real personal favourite project of mine, and I would like to perform it again before a bigger audience with a bigger screen!

This is the full recording of our live concert at E-Scape festvial of electronic music, on 1st June 2019 in Halesworth in Suffolk. It is a continuous 43 minute piece of music played completely live in front of an enthusiastic audience. In October 2018 we were invited to perform a couple of live sets for broadcast by a Phonic FM Radio Station, Exeter. Our second 'Phonic FM' set would later be issued on the SOUTH CD, but the first live set we performed had remained unheard since the original broadcast. It featured an improvised introduction that would later be reworked into the track ICEBREAKER on SOUTH , plus the second half of our OUTBACK set that was originally issued on WAVE - FORMS . However the version presented here is markedly different in feel to the CD release and is one of our best ever live musical performances to date!

On October 30th 2021 Axxent Opaque took part in a Lockdown livestreamers event broadcasting live on the internet. The recording is available as a double disc CD/DVD of the concert. Disc 1 is an edited CD of the set. Disc 2 is a DVD featuring the full unedited webcast plus a bonus promo video for the track Dawn Awakening.

This is a live recording of Axxent Opaque’s complete score to the 1919 film SOUTH. The DVD is the film of the expedition, as shot by the expedition members back in 1914-17, along with extra images accompanied by our musical score. A true audio//visual experience.

This is a live recording of our debut concert, containing two sets performed during the Seventh Wave Festival Of Electronic Music held at the Birmingham and Midlands Institute, Birmingham UK in March 2018.

Seventh Wave Festival of Electronic Music, Birmingham 10th March 2018

This was our debut live performance, that took place in the Gallery Room, at the Seventh Wave Festival of Electronic Music organised by Chris Wave. We were invited and welcomed by long- time friend of the band, Martyn Greenwood (who performs as Concept Devices ). We performed two half hour sets, the second of which is is on the YouTube Video below, and they were released as our debut album Wave-Forms . The audience reaction to our first performance was very enthusiastic and it help cement our reputation as a must-see live synth act.

Lockdown Livestream V-EM X, 30th October 2021

Livestream event

We took part in a Livestream event organised by Adrian Hendy as part of his Lockdown Livestreamers on at 11pm on a Saturday night. We pulled the set together over three days with each day being around 14-15 hours long, until we were finally happy with the result late Saturday afternoon. The whole event consisted of four acts starting at 8pm and with us performing last finishing at around midnight. We were so pleased with the results that the edited set became our third main release From the Dark Dimension . The whole performance is on the YouTube video below but it looks and sounds much better on the CD/DVD..

Awakenings, Rugeley, Staffs, 21st May 2022

This was our second time at Awakenings, and the first time we had been before a live audience in almost 3 years. We also sported our new Axxent Opaque T-shirts! The performance comprised of a 50 minute set of all brand new material that was varied, dramatic and melodic. This included an Arabic sounding piece, lots of sequencing and a tribute/reflection on the current situation in Ukraine that we titled “Children of Ukraine”. The enthusiastic audience shouted ‘more’ and we played a 20 minute encore, being The Hidden Truth / Rockdown taken from the album From the Dark Dimension. There is a very nice review of the whole event on a German website , in German, that your browser may translate. Some review highlights are…. “The tracks are varied and never lengthy, and the "responsibility" for the melody line shifts back and forth between the three actors from track to track “ “If you really want to find a category for Axxent Opaque, then for me it would be "Tangerine Dream meets Pink Floyd"

This was our second live performance, comprising of 2 adjacent sets, including a brand new piece we had only finalized 2 days earlier, all received with much enthusiasm. The night before we were guests on Phonic FM's Two Knobs And An Oscillator show live from the Phoenix Centre in Exeter, which can be downloaded . Synths by The Sea, Teignmouth, Devon, 29th October 2022

This was the first of our two-date mini tour, Two Nights of Synth, with Richard Anthony Bean . We played in the beautiful surroundings of St Mary’s church on the isle of Wedmore in Somerset which was very atmospheric and inspirational. There was fantastic lighting and video projection, thanks to Richard, which really complimented the stonework and arches of this lovely old church. It was a real joy doing this dual concert series with Richard and a real pleasure to get to see him perform live. Our performance comprised of a revised version of the set that we played at Awakenings in May this year. This time improvisational piece in the middle of the set was revised in that it was longer and more varied. In addition we also introduced a new piece to conclude the set.

St Mary’s Church, Wedmore, Somerset, 28th October 2022

This was the second of our two-date mini tour with Richard Anthony Bean and was the first time I had personally organised an event. This, for me, was playing on home territory, being at the Riviera building, in Teignmouth, Devon. a former cinema and the home of my church. Many of my friends attended that night so it was of particular importance to me to get it right. The night went very well despite some inevitable technical issues which were thankfully resolved (not long) before we started. With Richard and Axxent Opaque, the audience experienced two quite different styles of electronic music which went down very well.
