TRAPPED was written and directed by Timothy R Lahr. I provided music from 1 minute into the film, being a sentimental theme of a scene with two sisters, then a sad, mourning theme, plus some intense ominous music (the opening sound fx and closing music were from another sources). The mournful theme was later released as She Should Be Here (title taken from the film narrative) and became one of my most popular pieces. It has special meaning to me as it was later used in my Mum’s funeral. The sisters theme was released as Remembering Asterion. These pieces can be streamed or downloaded on my CosmoMoose page.

“He’s an amazingly quick composer.” “He’s really come up with songs that fit the bill” “He’s really brought in some interesting musical layers.”
I’m passionate about creating distinctive music for film/media projects, and my speciality is composing strong and memorable themes for scenes or characters. I’d like to build lasting relationships with creative directors of film, theatre etc. who appreciate the vital role music has in their project. The way I work is that, after discussing musical themes with the director/project owner, I just let the music automatically come to me, as it so often does when I see visuals, read books, or want to express an emotion. If you would like to ask a question, hire me to compose music for your project, discuss ideas or for anything else, then I would be glad to hear from you . You can also connect with me on Facebook or Twitter .
DEAD EXIT - Audio Movie   American novel-writer/producer Doug Shiloh asked me to compose a soundtrack for his Audio Movie Dead Exit.  First up, Doug wanted a bold theme tune and then a love theme for which he provided the title “Love is Eternal”. “I’m happy CosmoMoose joined the team,” Producer Doug Shiloh said. “He’s really come up with songs that fit the bill for this layered story. He’s an amazingly quick composer. I gave him ideas of what they should have, as far as elements and off he goes. He’s really brought in some interesting musical layers.” I hope to share more news (and themes I’ve started) soon.

Promotional Film for a Tudor House

I was asked to compose two specific themes for a promotional film for St Nicholas Priory in Exeter, Devon : 1 . A short Tudor theme to be played throughout the film and on the end credits 2 . A haunting theme with a time travel feel for a scene where the camera pans across the outside walls of the old priory An excerpt of my Tudor Theme is at the beginning with the full version on the end credits, and the Haunting Theme is 45 seconds in.

Musical Theatre

I have written a stage musical about the Biblical character of Daniel . The musical has yet to be performed in its entirety but I have recorded a these demo songs which raised many eyebrows and caused a lot of interest due to witty lyrics and intricate instrumentation. Some crazy and beautiful demo songs from the musical can be found on this player, being the first 10 songs. It's a roar! Intro to DANIEL MUSICAL- Come on Down Daniel and his friends go to sleep, not knowing that it'll be their last night in Zion. Daniel dream's of a sheep but then the dream darkens, AND THEN....(ooh, I shouldn't spoil it)… GOD IS OUR REFUGE In Zion, Daniel encourages his friends by singing this song based on Psalm 46 - but the Babylonians are just around the corner... BY THE WATERS... The first mournful section to this beautiful song is to be sung by Daniel's friends: Mischael and Hananiah who, in the show, are to be female singers. Daniel then sings the final uplifting section with choir to the final prayer of hope. HE'S IN LOVE WITH HIMSELF A lion leans against a piano played by another lion and sings. They are joined by the king and other lions all singing in top hat and tails. Just another night in a musical really. WATCH OUT! BOO! HISS! In the musical, this is Daniel’s first encounter with the baddies who would later plot to throw him into the lions' den. When the song fades out at the end, put your head close to the speakers and listen carefully (tee hee hee). COME ON DOWN THIS IS IT! The part where Daniel goes to the Lions' den. The lions are treating it as some kind of game show where the prize is a meal with them 'pussy-cats'. The king is reluctant, the lions are impatient and sing many funnies whilst waiting.
SUPERIORITY COMPLEX In the musical, the lions introduce the audience to King Nebuchadnezzar who has trouble getting his head through doors. As the lions say: let the verbal diarrhea flow... Dance 'til you Drop Contest In the musical Daniel and his friends refuse to eat meat served to Babylonian idols. Monsieur Ashpenaz was worried that they might look unfit. To prove their fitness they had this contest. The announcer is a lion (of course). BELSHAZZAR (THE GREAT?) Although Belshazzar is the most wretched character in the musical 'DANIEL -WATCH OUT!', this song is one of my favourites due to the demented vocals and even more demented guitar, particularly the solo in the middle. CUNNING PLAN BOO HISS again. The baddies are plottting to 'book a one way ticket into the Lion's den' for Daniel. However they can't frame him with a crime because Daniel is 'squeaky clean' - but he does have a bad habit of praying!...

I was asked by game designer, Glen Chudley, to compose a soundtrack to a com - puter game based on a fantasy adventure book Slaves of the Abyss. This is one of those books where you are the hero of the story and you decide what to do next on your quest. It was released on 2 CDs as Abyssium . The tracks were composed based on Glen's specific directions on what music he wanted in each scene in the 'quotes' below: KALLAMEHR 'Should create the impression of a prosperous city. Arabian influ - ence' ITER FORTISSIMUM (Latin for Journey of Courage) 'Should evoke the sense of trav - elling on a long journey of which the destination is not known' TEMPLE OF FOURGA 'Should sound stereotypically holy, but in a pretentious way. Fourga is the god of pride' ABANDONED VILLAGE 'A mix of sadness, mystery and danger' [I wanted an opera singer to vocalise that sadness in the second part] PATH OF RIDDLES 'Incongruous, completely juxtaposed to the mood of the rest of the game perhaps even a bit carnival/funfair like?' [I wanted to make it fun but slow paced as riddles aren’t solved quickly!] MYSTERIOUS FOREST 'As the name suggests, mysterious, though in a more posit - ive and playful way than is typical of the rest of the game' [Glen then gave directions that there was a second forest scene which should be sadder] GURU REUNION [this scene was a late addition to the game where Glen wanted something peaceful but oriental] BESIEGED! 'Like Kallemehr , but slightly subdued. Should also hint in some way of an impending threat' [although this track started off like Kallamehr it took on a life of its own with more than a hint of threat!] OPEN THE ABYSS something a bit surreal [This is the opening title theme to the game even though it's at the end of the album. I thought it too strange to open the album and a nice way to close Chapter 1]. CALL TO BATTLE ‘A basic military drum beat, overlaid with other instruments to give the impression of a final showdown (actually turns out not to be, but oh well)’ ITER PERICULOSUM (Latin for Journey of Peril) ‘should be like [ITER FORTISSIMUM] (on Chapter I) but sounding more ominous” UNDERGROUND PASSAGES [Glen wanted something based on the Kallamehr theme from Chapter I but the action is happening in the sewers rather than in the City] HIDDEN TUNNEL ‘Mysterious, in a slightly surreal way. It is the first time the player enters the Abyss’ LOST IN THE ABYSS ‘Surreal and should give the impression of an endless barren expanse’ ORGAN PHANTASY NO.1 (CASTLE OF DOOM) 'Church organ music. Should sug - gest the massive size of the castle. (The Castle is basically designed for use by someone 50 feet tall)’ I plan this piece to be the first ORGAN PHANTASY in a series. SOUL CHAMBER – [Glen wanted something dark, surreal and disturbing] ESCAPE FROM THE ABYSS [This is the End theme] Something epic, suggesting exploring infinite new possibilities I added two more tracks to the project….. RECOLLECTION is a composition inspired by the game recalling many of the existing themes SONG OF THE SAVED is the only song with lyrics, sung from the point of view of those being saved. It is also deliberately an allegory to how Jesus gave His all to save us all. This song and all my music is made for God’s glory. At the time of writing, the computer game has not been finished.

Original Score for STAR WARS fan film

I was asked by director and actor Kiefer Jenkins to provide a soundtrack for his short Star Wars fan film Shadow of the Mandalorian. Kiefer, who played the Mandalorian in the film, specified that the score should not only resemble the music in the main Star Wars films (scored by John Williams) but also include electronic elements due to the film's mysterious sub-tone. I composed the music to carry the story, including a recurring motif for main character and a theme for fast-flying spaceship (known as Interplanetary Theme ), and an uplifting finale ( Mandalorian Redemption ). The Original Score can be streamed or downloaded on my CosmoMoose page. The Interplanetary Theme was also used for the shorter fan film The Five Jedi .

Radio Show Theme Song

Krypton Radio (now called Sci-Fi Radio , who often play my CosmoMoose music) asked that I create a song for their radio show about geek culture called Docking Bay 94 (this is a Star Wars reference). The song previously used was ELO's Mr Blue Sky so I wanted to do something in the same upbeat style. I wrote lyrics with many sci-fi, geek and Star Wars references and particularly like the bridge lyrics " She said as we entered The Falcon 'Get this walking rug out of my way ". Anyone who's watched Star Wars will know what this means and may find it amusing! The Radio Show hosts were elated with the song and frequently thanked me for it. (Hit the logo to play the song)

Score for 1919 Silent Film SOUTH

In 1914, Sir Ernest Shackleton went on the Trans-Antarctic Expedition, aiming to make the first ever land crossing via the South Pole. Frank Hurley took film footage of the expedition, which was later released as a silent film, SOUTH , documenting the voyage, the loss of the ship ‘Endurance’ and the escape and rescue of the men, without a single loss of life. In March 2019, AXXENT OPAQUE (the 3-piece synth band was in) performed a new synth/electronic score to the film before a live audience, in Birmingham, UK . To score the film we divided it up at suitable points into sections of music, and then allocated most of these sections to one of us to provide a basic idea framework, which the rest of us could then expand upon, add to and embellish, as follows:
(1) ‘OPENING’ (existing music from the Phonic FM Set Two) (2) ‘HEADING SOUTH’ (taken from the Phonic FM Set Two) (3) ‘ICEBREAKER’ (Re-worked from the Phonic FM Set One) (4) ‘CASTLE BERG’ [Allocated to Chris] (5) ‘CHARGING THE ICE’ [Allocated to Colin] (6) ‘FROZEN IN’ [Allocated to Chris] (7) ‘FETCHING WATER’ [Allocated to Chris] (8) ‘PUPS’ [Allocated to Chris] (9) ‘SEAL MEAT’ [Allocated to Chris] (10) ‘PENGUINS’ [Allocated to Chris] (11) ‘DOG RACING’ [Allocated to Colin] (12) ‘DARK SHIP’ [Allocated to Colin] (13) ‘OUTSIDE ACTIVITY’ [Allocated to Gary] (14) ‘UNDER ATTACK’ [Allocated to Gary] (15) ‘”DUMP CAMP”’ [Allocated to Chris] (16) ‘END OF THE ENDURANCE’ [Allocated to Gary & Colin] (17) ‘MAROONED’ [Allocated to Chris] (18) ‘ESCAPE / THE RESCUE’ [Allocated to Gary] (19) ‘ALL SAVED! – ALL WELL!’ [Allocated to Chris]
The promo video above shows the film footage interspersed with our concert performance. The full score can be heard on the Axxent Opaque page where the CD/DVD can be bought, containing the film with the full score.
